When should a business owner know it’s time for a refresh?

Once you have put your branding in place, it may be tempting to think it will be good forever, right? Wrong! As you evolve as a company, so do other businesses around you. It’s important to keep your brand relevant and looking fresh to reflect where you are in the industry and also to keep up with the competition.

 

Let’s take a look at some tell-tale signs that it might be time for a refresh…


  • You don’t get the right type of enquiries.

    Are you receiving a lot of the same type of work, when your offering is actually a much wider range of services? Are your customers all from a concentrated area, but they never seem to approach from further afield?


  • People thought your prices would be higher or lower than quoted.

    Too expensive? Cheaper than expected? Either way, there’s a little disconnect between your quote and what your potential customer expected when they contacted you.


  • Your competitors are out-performing you.

    If you know that your skills and knowledge are a cut above, but your competitors seem to be bagging all those juicy contracts; it might be time to start looking at your own brand, website or marketing. Does it reflect your expertise and level of service? If not, it might be time to give a refresh a try.


  • Your brand image is outdated and holding you back.

    Is your brand no longer an accurate representation of your growth as a business? Does your brand look tired against your polished business operation? If there is any hesitation to tell people your web address, or you feel a little sense of dread when you know someone will be heading to your website after a positive meeting; maybe it’s time to think more seriously about a refresh.


  • Your business has a lack of digital presence.

    If you are a relatively new business, you may not have got around to developing your basic website into one that has much more information and is styled in a way that reflects your branding and your business properly. You may not have set up your presence on social media to feed into your website. This is probably ensuring that your business is overly reliant on referrals and word of mouth locally. There is a heavy global reliance on search engine optimisation implemented into your digital presence, without this, you’re effectively losing out on your chance to gain a lot of work.
